The itinerary to Monte Vettore is one of the most popular hikes in the Monti Sibillini range. The starting point at Forca di Presta, a mountain pass located between the Tronto valley and Castelluccio di Norcia, marks the beginning of a hike that offers breathtaking views. The trail unfolds through a continuous alternation of gentle and steeper climbs, gradually leading to the highest point of the mountain, at an altitude of 2,476 meters.
The panorama accompanying the hike is one of its main attractions. Initially, the view opens to the south, where the Monti Gemelli and the Monti della Laga can be admired. AS you climb higher, the vista expands to include the Castelluccio plain, a lush expanse that provides an incredible natural spectacle. The valley of Lago di Pilato reveals itself later on, along with other peaks such as Monte Sibilla, Monte Priora, Cima del Redentore, and Pizzo del Diavolo, visible from perspectives that shift as you ascend.
Once you arrive at the top of Monte Vettore, the view offers a full 360-degrees panorama, from the Umbro-Marche Apennines to the Adriatic coast, which can be glimpsed on the eastern horizon. The view that you can enjoy is truly unique, with a variety of landscapes that offers a complete overview of the natural beauties of the region.
The downhill route follows the same path, allowing hikers to enjoy these extraordinary landscapes once again.

The hike to Monte Vettore from Forca di Presta is an excursion that requires physical effort, previous hiking experience and ability to walk on trails with mixed rocky and gravelly surfaces.

THE BEST TIME TO VISIT THE MONTE VETTORE
The best time to climb is from May (in the absence of snow) until October. It is important to bring enough water (at least 2 liters), a hat, sunscreen, and fruit.
