Accessible and Inclusive Tourism
In recent decades, more and more people have felt the need to explore nature for fun, relaxation, or as a place where they can connect with themselves and others.
Everyone should be free to enjoy outdoor activities, without worrying that a condition of disadvantage might prevent them from fully experiencing such moments.
In addition, activities designed for people with physical or cognitive disabilities should not be treated as fallback options or downgraded versions of standard activities, but should be thought and designed as experiences with their own specific characteristics.
Here are the accessibility services and activities developed by our team, supported by the guides of Marche Active Tourism.
-
Mapping of nature trails with the indication of the degree of accessibility according to the type of disability (physical, intellectual and sensory), with the option to plan routes on foot or using outdoor equipment.
-
Guided excursion with a Joëlette, a single-wheel all terrain wheelchair that allows people with motor disabilities to enjoy cycle tourism.
-
Inclusive cycling experiences using a three-wheeled tandem, a system that enables people with disabilities to enjoy cycle tourism.
-
Support services for pushing manual wheelchairs or offering to accompany under-arm participants with visual impairments.
-
Immersive nature experiences based on sound, touch, and smell, designed primarily for people with visual impairments.
-
Experiential activities and itinerant workshops in natural environments designed specifically for people with autism spectrum disorders.
-
Design for local authorities, public institutions and third-sector organizations related to tourist services.
