The “Recanati and Leopardi” tour offers a fascinating journey to discover the symbolic places of the city of Giacomo Leopardi, combining history, art, and poetry.
The itinerary begins in Piazza Giacomo Leopardi, the heart of the city, where you will be introduced to the history of Recanati and admire two iconic landmarks: the Torre del Borgo, an ancient civic symbol, and the Palazzo Comunale, the historic seat of the city administration.
The tour continues towards the Teatro Persiani, an elegant example of 19th-century architecture, followed by a visit to the entrance hall and balcony of Palazzo Venieri, a noble residence built in the mid-15th century, a testament to the importance and artistic refinement of the period.
The route continues to the Torre del Passero Solitario, made immortal by Leopardi’s verses, and proceeds with an external visit of Palazzo Antici, the residence of Giacomo’s mother, Adelaide Antici, who belonged to one of the most influential families in Recanati.
You will then reach the charming Piazzetta del Sabato del Villaggio, an evocative place celebrating poetry and everyday life in the village. Here you will find the famous Casa Leopardi, where the poet was born and lived, and Silvia’s House, the home of the muse who inspired his most beloved poem.
The tour ends at the Parco del Colle dell’Infinito, one of the most poetic places in Italy, offering the same view that inspired Leopardi while composing “L’Infinito”.
An itinerary combining art, history, and poetry, offering an authentic experience in the places that shaped the life and works of the great poet from Recanati.
