The Franciscan Trail is a hiking route connecting Pioraco and Sefro, following in the footsteps of Saint Francis of Assisi. This scenic trail offers an immersive experience in nature, winding through lush woodlands and breathtaking landscapes.
The itinerary follows the ancient Franciscan path alongside the Scarzito Stream to Sefro, where Blessed Bernard, the first disciple of Saint Francis, withdrew into hermitage. Along the way, before reaching Sefro, we will visit the Church of San Tossano in Agolla. Standing at the entrance to the village above the small cemetery, the church has been documented since the 14th century, originally under the name S. Theosani de Avolla.
An itinerary through museums, historic villages, and nature in the Upper Potenza Valley.
This route connects the museums, villages, and landscapes of the Upper Potenza Valley Museum Network with the teachings of Saint Francis and the words of the Canticle of the Creatures. It offers a unique opportunity to rediscover the area's cultural and natural heritage as a source of memory, contemplation, and reflection on the relationship between humanity, creation, and local communities.
