Description

One of the most legendary and panoramic hikes in the Sibillini Mountains, offering exceptional views over much of the Sibillini range and the Adriatic coast. It's a mountain that seems to have been the 'home' of the sorceress and prophetess Sibilla.

In the first part the itinerary provides views towards the sea and south towards Gran Sasso, Monti della Laga, and Vettore. It then continues through the Monti Priora and Sibilla, which dominate the long and rugged Tenna Valley, gradually ascending to reach the characteristic rocky layer known as the 'Sibilla's crown,' with a small passage secured by chains. Then, it leads to the remains of Sibilla cave and finally to the summit with its spectacular ridge.

The return is on a dirt road with views over Foce, the valley of Pilato Lake and the imposing Monte Vettore.

Please note: Mandatory shuttle bus transfer from Montemonaco to Rifugio Sibilla. Round-trip tickets can be purchased in front of Bar Zocchi for €7, the meeting point with the guide.
